Naartjie trees planted in celebration of World Environment Day

Trees benefit the environment in many ways.

Carnival City recently joined the rest of the world to honour World Environment Day.

Employees rolled up their sleeves to plant trees at the complex, as well as at Buhlebemfundo Secondary School in Tsakane.

Carnival City staff with teachers and learners from Buhlebemfundo Secondary School. Staff planted naartjie trees at the school in celebration of World Environment Day recently.

“With the theme for this year’s World Environment Day being ‘Air Pollution’, we felt it fitting to plant indigenous naartjie trees at Carnival City and at a local school.

“Trees benefit the environment in many ways.

“Specifically, they absorb carbon dioxide and potentially harmful gasses, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, from the air and release oxygen,” said Annemie Turk, general manager of Carnival City.
