DEMS are on the scene of a collision on the N17.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) are on the scene of a fatal crash on the N17 highway eastbound, near the Osborn Road on-ramp in Germiston.

William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for DEMS told the GCN that the collision involved two vehicles.

“Two people were declared dead on the scene by paramedics, while four others were critically injured and transported to Sunshine Hospital in Benoni,” Ntladi said.

“From the four critically injured patients, one had to be airlifted to Sunshine Hospital.”
Ntladi added that another three people were in serious but stable conditions and they were transported by an ambulance service by road to the same hospital.

The N17 is partly closed to traffic as EMPD officers conduct on scene investigations.
