Luso defeat Sporting in tough match

Luso Africa FC continued their Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League campaign.

Shouts of support and disagreement filled the air at Hattingh Park, last Saturday, as Luso Africa FC faced Sporting FC in the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League.

In the hotly contested first teams’ match both clubs were eager to score early and pushed themselves to the limit.

Sporting was the first to get some points on the scoreboard.

But, their lead was short-lived and Luso’s Igor Ivanov soon got the equaliser.

The clubs went into the half-time break tied at 1-1.

The second half was tough for the home team as they were one man down, but they pushed forward.

This push was rewarded with a goal from Zanokohle Radebe.

The goal was enough to secure Luso a 2-1 win and to earn them three vital league points.

The second teams’ clash started strongly, with the home team looking like they were up for any challenge.

However, the team was unable to convert several chances into goals.

The score remained 0-0 at the half-time break, despite Sporting slowly clawing their way back into the game.

The second half saw Sporting score with their first shot on target, putting Luso on the back foot.

Shaken Luso failed to get back into the game and Sporting were able to score a second goal to win the match 2-0.

Other results:

Luso Africa FC’s women’s team hosted fifth place Blue Birds FC in the Women’s Sasol League, last Sunday.

Blue Birds came out guns blazing putting pressure on Luso from the first whistle.

They were rewarded with an early goal, but it looked like the early tempo had tired them.

Luso took advantage of this and soon Rachel Sebati scored two goals taking Luso into the lead at half-time.

Sebati got her hat-trick goal moments into the second half, with Mampa Tlhwaele scoring the team’s fourth goal.

The 4-1 victory was the club’s eighth win in a row.
