Primrose police arrested a 22-year-old man on a charge of domestic violence.

A 22-year-old man, from the Delport informal settlement, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence last Saturday.

The arrest was made after the victim of the alleged attack, the accused’s ex-girlfriend, opened a case against him at the Primrose Police Station.

“The complainant alleged that she was walking with a friend when her ex-boyfriend approached them and started pushing her,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“She reportedly reminded the suspect that her parents had told him not to come near her again and he left.”

The man later arrived at her home, where she lived with their child.

“He allegedly accused her of cheating with the friend she had been walking with and then reportedly began to hit and strangled her with a rope,” said Maome.

“After the assault, he allegedly took their child and left.”
