Luso back to winning ways

In the first teams’ clash the visitors started strong and soon opened the scoring with a goal from Stewart Bourke.

A few minutes after this Thabang Tau scored the team’s second goal after receiving the ball in the penalty box.

This left Luso with a comfortable lead of 2-0 heading into the half-time break.

“Luso became very relaxed and took their foot off the pedal,” said Dylan Wilson, on behalf of the club.

This was clear in the first few minutes of the second half when Old Bens were able to score two goals in succession.

“Changes were made to the Luso line-up in hopes of still securing a victory,” said Wilson.

The changes paid off as a cross from the wing landed at Lee Coimbras’ feet and he was able to slot it into the top corner to secure Luso a 3-2 victory.

In the second teams’ match Old Bens found themselves on the back foot early in the match.

Despite this Luso squandered a number of chances to score.

This allowed Old Bens the opportunity to score from a free kick.

Just before half-time, however, Mario Ferreira, who missed a previous attempt at goal, was able to redeem himself with a well-struck free kick.

This tied the score at 1-1 heading into half-time.

In the second half both teams fought hard to take the lead, but it was Luso’s Balin Benissan who found the back of the home team’s net, allowing Luso to inch into the lead, which they maintained.

The final score was 2-1 in Luso’s favour.
