Germiston City FC defeated in tough Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League match against Sporting FC.

Germiston City Football Club travelled to Turffontein to face Sporting Football Club in their latest Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League fixture.

Germiston was narrowly defeated by Sporting 3-2 in a closely contested match.

The visiting team were the first to get a point on the scoreboard with a goal from Anthony Uzochukwu.

Sporting soon replied with a goal of their own, leaving the score tied at 1-1 heading into half-time.

In the second half, Germiston’s head coach Sreten Pavlovic was forced to substitute a defender into the goals after goalkeeper Comfort Molebela was injured.

Germiston bounced back from this unexpected setback with Uzochukwu scoring the team’s second goal of the match.

Sadly, their lead did not last long and some indecisive defending from the club allowed Sporting to equalise.

The match looked set to end in a draw, but with just two minutes on the clock, the home team was able to push past the Germiston defence to score their third goal of the match, securing them a 3-2 victory.

Germiston was left to rue their missed opportunities in a very competitive game.

In the reserve teams’ match, Germiston beat their Sporting rivals 2-1.
