Disappointing weekend for Luso Africa FC

Alberton Football Club proved too much for Luso Africa FC this weekend, defeating the first and reserve team.

Luso Africa FC continued their Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League campaign with an away match against Alberton Football Club, last Saturday.

Coming off two consecutive wins Luso were confident and determined to continue their winning streak.

However, this wasn’t to be with both the first team and reserve team losing to their Alberton counterparts.

In the first teams’ clash, Luso and Alberton seemed evenly matched throughout the first half with few chances for goals presenting themselves for either team.

The teams went into half-time tied at 0-0.

The second half seemed to pick up where the first had left off, but soon tipped in Alberton’s favour after the home team scored the first goal of the match from a well-taken free kick.

Luso pushed to get the equaliser but Alberton’s defence kept them from finding the back of the net.

Alberton soon added a second goal to their tally.

Luso was unable to bounce back and the match ended in a 2-0 victory for Alberton.

In the reserve teams’ match Alberton was the first to score after Luso squandered several early chances.

The visitors managed to pull one back a couple minutes later but poor defending just before the half-time break allowed Alberton to score their second goal of the match and give them a 2-1 lead heading into half-time.

The second half was much of the same for Luso, as they pushed hard to get back into the game.

Their efforts were rewarded with another goal, however, several mistakes from the team’s defence allowed Alberton to score three more goals.

The match ended 5-2 in the home team’s favour.

Luso hoped to turn things around this weekend when they took on league newcomers Musa United FC at Hattingh Park, on Saturday.
