The Germiston SAPS has confirmed that a case of murder has been opened following the death of a three-year-old boy.
The boy’s body was found at a dumping site near the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose, on Sunday, after he was reported missing by his family on Saturday.

“A missing person’s report was filed by the boy’s family on Saturday night at about 9pm at the Primrose Police Station,” said Capt Kay Makhubele, spokesperson for the Gauteng SAPS.
According Makhubele, police opened a murder case immediately after the boy’s body was discovered.

“Two boys, aged seven and eight years old respectively, are the lead suspects and were questioned by the police on Sunday,” he said.
“They have since been released into the custody of their parents.
“We are still investigating the circumstances of the incident.”
