Runners get ready for the Alan Robb Race

Germiston Callies Harriers’ annual Alan Robb Race will take to the streets of Germiston on April 7.

It is time once again for runners to brave the chilly Germiston mornings and tackle the annual Alan Robb Race.

The race, formerly known as the Legends Race, includes a 15km and a 32km race and will start and end at the Germiston Stadium on April 7.

The event is held annually by Germiston Callies Harriers in honour of veteran member Alan Robb, who won four Comrades Marathons in Callies colours.

Runners will hit the streets at 6.30am.

In keeping with tradition, the day will also host a 5km fun run, which aims to raise funds for a worthy charity.

This event will kick-off at 7am, after the main race has begun.

The charity is yet to be announced.

Runners can enter the race by visiting www.entrytime.com or the Central Gauteng Athletics offices at Germiston Stadium until March 29.

Last minute entries for the race and fun run will be taken at the Callies offices at Germiston Stadium on April 6 from 9am to 1pm.

Pre-entries may also be collected from the office on that day.

“Late entries will also be open on the morning of the race from 5am, pre-entrants can also collect their numbers before the race,” said Les Black, on behalf of Germiston Callies Harriers.

Strict cut-off times for the race will be enforced once again this year.

“Marshalls and traffic officials may be withdrawn after the cut-off time.

“Cut-off times will be strictly enforced and participants must withdraw from the race if so requested by race officials,” said Black.
