One man arrested for arson by the Primrose police, while his alleged accomplice is still at large.

It is alleged the man and an accomplice set fire to the victim’s Makause informal settlement shack after an argument over R50.

“The victim told police he had been home with the two men, one of whom was his friend, when they demanded R50,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“When he told the men he had no money they allegedly became angry, and one of the men reportedly poured paraffin on the victim, dragged him outside and threw a brick at him.”

The men left and the victim returned inside where he went to sleep.

“The victim claims at around 3am he awoke to discover his shack was on fire, but he was able to escape.

“Once outside he alleged that he saw the two men, who had attacked him earlier that day, fleeing from the scene,” said Maome.
