Learning the importance of recycling

Ronnie Recycler (the Mpact Recycling mascot), Yasmeen Adam (procurement representative) and Jani Cronjé (Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa finalist) visit Heavenly Flowers Private School to teach the children about recycling.

Learners from Heavenly Flowers Private School learnt more about recycling recently when a team from Mpact Recycling paid the school a special visit.

Ronnie Recycler (the Mpact Recycling mascot), Yasmeen Adam (procurement representative) and Jani Cronjé (Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa finalist), gave 150 learners and their teachers an educational talk and demonstration on what to recycle and how to recycle. They also talked about the benefits of recycling.

Before the visit, learners were given little Ronnie bags and asked to collect paper and cardboard from home to recycle at school with the help of Ronnie Recycler.

After the talk, the learners were led out to the school’s paper banks where they deposited their recyclables.

Ronnie Recycler further explained how the paper drives are meant to generate one ton of recycling for the campaign.

“My visit to Heavenly Flowers School was literally what their name stands for – it was ‘heavenly’ where each ‘flower’ is accepted in their own individual way for who they are,” said Jani, who is working alongside Mpact Recycling in promoting recycling awareness, supporting fund-raising initiatives and increasing recycling volumes.

“Together they celebrate their unity and love whilst fostering a recycling culture.”

Heavenly Flowers encourages more community members and businesses to play their part in saving the environment by donating all their unwanted paper, magazines, newspapers, cartons etc to the school for recycling.

“The school needs the community’s contribution to help them increase their recycling volumes on a continual basis as it is a way to raise funds,” said Jani.
