Cause of accident still unclear

EMPD cannot confirm the cause of a Main Road accident, which saw a Golf land on its roof.

Commuters travelling up and down Main Road, in Fishers’ Hill, were met with a strange sight last Monday afternoon.

A blue Volkswagen Golf was seen on its roof, with a crowd of curious onlookers around it.

Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD, said, “We can confirm the driver of a Volkswagen Golf lost control and overturned it.

“Our call taking centre received the call at 11.45am and our precinct officers were on site by 11.59am.”

He further confirmed the male driver, who was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident, didn’t sustain any visible injuries and promised to consult his own doctor following the accident.

“It is not clear at this stage what the actual cause of the accident was,” Mokheseng said.

When asked if the EMPD received many reports of accidents in Main Road he commented that, “We hardly receive reports of accidents on this stretch of road.”
