Tea party to raise funds for SAVF

SAVF Greater Germiston Care of the Aged is holding a special tea party to raise funds.

Are you in the mood for a fun, inspiring tea party?

And wouldn’t it be even better if you were helping a worthy organisation while enjoying your cup of tea?

Then the SAVF Greater Germiston Care of the Aged International Tea for the Elderly is just for you.

The organisation, situated in Elspark, has been delivering services to the elderly community of Germiston for many years and does not receive a subsidy from the Department of Social Development.

The staff complement of one social worker, one social auxiliary worker and an administrative clerk (two days a week) along with a management committee of five members, who control the core business, are working hard to care for the elderly in the community.

The core functions of the NGO are:

• To attend to neglected and abused elderly members of the community.

• To place elderly people, if necessary, in institutions where they will be cared for.

• To reach out to the community and assist wherever there is a need for social work intervention in home-based care situations.

• To conduct group work sessions in the community.

• To attend to reported cases which need social work intervention.

The tea will help raise funds for the SAVF Greater Germiston Care of the Aged to continue its work, as well as celebrate National Care of the Elderly Day.

A fun-filled morning is planned with entertainment, motivational speakers (including actress Fatima Abdool) and prizes up for grabs.

The event takes place on October 6, at 10am, at Hoërskool Oosterlig situated on the corner of Sonskyn Road and Suikerbekkie Street in Sunward Park, Boksburg.

Tickets cost R100 per person and this includes your refreshments.

For more information or to book your spot contact Marie Loots on 011 916 2217/3013.
