Entertaining rugby day for young rugby stars
Junior rugby stars in the making showcase their talents at the Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Day.
The Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club hosted their annual Junior Rugby Day on Saturday at the Elspark Sports Grounds.
Intensely cold winds blew throughout the majority of the day but spectators came out in numbers to support the rugby protégés.
Pancake and coffee stalls were popular due to the weather, however, things changed as the games heated up.
Clubs which are part of the Valke League, including Benoni Grizzlies, Brakpan Junior Rugby Club, Suikerbosrand Junior Rugby Club and Kempton Park Junior Rugby Club joined the Elsburg Eagles for a day dedicated to junior rugby.

The three teams from the hosting club produced a mixed bag of results at the end of the tournament.
The u-8 team enjoyed a 5-2 win against Brakpan.
The Elsburg Eagles’ highlight of the day was the u-10 team which chipped in a good 24-10 win against Suikerbosrand.
“We had a wonderful day hosting all the clubs at our home grounds.
“Our u-7 team played their hearts out in tag rugby but unfortunately they lost their game,” said Joan Rohrbeck, chairperson of the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club.
The u-12 Benoni Grizzlies were the overall winners of the day, scoring the most tries leading to a 53-0 win against Suikerbosrand.
“Thank you to all our coaches for their hard work throughout the season and for their participation in the rugby day.
“We are looking forward to more games to be played,” said Rohrbeck.
