Mother desperately looking for her missing son

Theunis Petrus De Bruin was reported missing recently at the Boksburg North Police Station. He was reported missing by his mother Alet Smit, who lives in Klopper Park, and he was last seen at about 1pm in Boksburg (where he was living) on June 2.

Woman killed in Katlehong, husband arrested

A 42-year-old woman was killed in the Siphamamandla informal settlement in Katlehong last Thursday. Her 52-year-old husband was later arrested by the Katlehong police and charged with the murder.

ALERT: Elsburg cop murdered, suspect linked to another police killing

The Elsburg SAPS are mourning the loss of one of their own. Const Motlalentoa Mahlatsi was killed in the early hours of July 11 while attending to a complaint in Elsburg. The National Commissioner of Police, Gen Khehla John Sitole has reiterated the SAPSs stance that anyone who attacks members of the police undermines the authority of the State and will, therefore, be tracked down and arrested to face the full might of the law.

Usually, when one brings up Robben Island you think of the Rivonia Trial and quickly forget the many heroes, remembering only one, Nelson Mandela. However, there are a number of South African heroes, dead and alive, who served the nation well by risking their own lives for the freedom of black people during apartheid. Gaby Thono Magomola, an astute businessman born in a mining town on the West Rand, is one of these greats.

High-profile steel company looks at developing communities

Although the Macsteel head office building on Dyson Road, Wadeville, was demolished a few years ago, the company’s roots are still well embedded in Germiston. Proving this to be fact, the boardroom at the old head office site still remains intact. Eric Samson, founder of Macsteel, also had his office preserved in Wadeville.
