Watch equestrian excellence take centre stage

The SA Derby presented by black is a must for all equestrian fans.

The 52nd edition of the SA Derby will continue to be sponsored by Cell C through their new entertainment offering, black.

While the in-arena action is expected to be of the utmost quality and thrill, the out of arena action is what’s got everyone abuzz.

The fun will start at 9am on September 26.

Whether it be vet checks, course walks or classes for the youngsters, the show grounds will start to buzz with the thrill that is known as the SA Derby, presented by black.

The highlight as always, the South African 1.50m Derby final at noon on September 30, will be rocking a strictly smart “Spring in the Hamptons” dress code and an epic official after party featuring A-list South African artists Rubber Duc, Goodluck, Georgetown, Ultramel, Tomorrow’s Will, Kyle Worde and Greg Walsh.

Having partnered with G&G Productions, Kyalami Park Club chairperson Jan Kleynhans said that this year will be the best yet.

“We’ve addressed the challenges of previous years and have tackled them head-on.

“We’re allowing our experts to focus on what they do best, the horse side of things.

“We’ve then partnered with strategic brand and festival specialists G&G Productions so they can focus on the action attractions outside of the competitions underway, including the marketing, VIP Champagne Village, VVIP suites, food and retail village and overall public experience and flow.

“We’ve decreased the number of grandstand tickets available to 70 per cent of 2017, ensuring far better comfort and an extremely sought after and exclusive affair.

“We welcome everyone to join us in their Spring in the Hamptons Sunday best as Kyalami Park Club is set alight on September 30,” he said.

Four-time Derby winner and Team Nissan showjumping captain Barry Taylor said this is absolutely the place you want to be seen.

“The SA Derby is the equestrian calendar highlight for us showjumpers with the courses being of the highest standard.

“I am extremely excited for this year’s event, most especially the after party where the riders will get to mingle with fans and dance the night away,” he said.

G&G Productions CEO Greg Walsh is no stranger to the equestrian game having competed at the highest level in children’s and juniors.

He now also finds himself engaged to two time SA Derby winner Jade Hooke.

Greg is beyond excited by the partnership.

“I’ve attended at least 10 Derbies and am proud to have my company partner with and strategise for something so close to my heart.

“Over 15 years, G&G Productions has produced some of South Africa’s largest and most successful events and festivals, including Rage Festival, BMW M Festival, Sensation, Pure & Crafted SA and many more.

“We intend to bring all of our combined learning and experience to create a sensational SA Derby 2018, presented by black,” he said.
