Sharing a meal and a laugh at Sasonah Lodge

Life Roseacres Hospital staff visit Sasonah Lodge for special Mandela Day visit.

In May 2004, Sasonah Lodge opened its doors in Lambton.

The centre cares for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer and frail care patients, and offers around-the-clock nursing care, as well as home-based care.

“Sasonah Lodge is a home away from home, where we try our utmost to eliminate the clinical type of environment and allow our patients to do as they would do in their own homes,” explained manager Melanie Nunn.

This year, for Mandela Day, a team from Life Rosearces Hospital visited the home to spend some time with the residents and serve them a hot meal.

“We decided to get some of our staff from different departments out of our hospital and out into the community so they could see what is happening in Germiston.

“I think interacting with the residents of Sasonah Lodge has really been an eye-opener for some of them,” said Karen Landsberg, marketing co-ordinator for Life Roseacres Hospital.

If you would like more information on the centre, call Melanie on 072 436 6207, or email to melanie.sasonah@gmail.com.
