Ten suspects were arrested in Katlehong on Thursday during several stop-and-search operations in the area.
The operations were conducted by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit and the EMPD.

During the operations, EMPD officers arrested a 29-year-old man at the Buyafuthi Hostel for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The officers were led to the man following a tip-off from the community.
“The suspect was found in his room at the hostel.
“Officers seized a 9mm pistol, without a magazine or rounds of ammunition,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.
The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.

Other suspects were arrested on various charges including murder, robbery, warrant of arrest and possession of dagga.
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
