Man nabbed for assault and robbery

The Primrose police apprehended a Marathon informal settlement man after he allegedly robbed and assaulted a woman.

A 31-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police, last Saturday, for armed robbery and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The arrest was made after the victim opened a case at the Primrose Police Station.

“The woman told police that she got off a taxi on the corner of Main Reef and Cemetery roads when she was approached by the accused.

“She claimed that the man grabbed her and dragged her to his home where he threatened her with a firearm and demanded her cellphones,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The victim further claimed that after taking two cellphones from her the accused assaulted her.

“She sustained injuries to the upper body during the attack,” said Maome.

Using the description given by the victim police were able to arrest the suspect and he was detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He later appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where the matter was postponed for plea and trial.
