“The day started with a peaceful walk from New Market Mall to the Alberton Civic Centre.

“Once there the girls, from various schools across Ekurhuleni, were treated to a number of motivational talks,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Speakers included Ekurhuleni West Cluster stations’ representative Lt Col Phindile Mabitsela, who stressed to the girls that success does not happen overnight and they need to work hard to reach their dreams.

“Every day you get a little bit better than the day before and a step closer to your dreams,” Mabitsela said.

Motivational speaker Boitumelo Moloi also offered the learners motivation.

Moloi encouraged the girls to believe in their dreams as this will help them achieve their goals.

“No matter the circumstances one comes across in life, you have the power and authority to overcome it, keep your eyes on the prize and remember no one can take your dream away from you,” Moloi said.

The day ended with all participants receiving a certificate as a token of appreciation from the organisers for their involvement in the event.
