CCBSA adds colour to Rekopane Inclusive Development Centre

Through their Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Employee Volunteer Programme, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) Wadeville carried out a series of projects at the Rekopane Inclusive Development Centre to better their living conditions.

The Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) Wadeville plant spent last Monday at the Rekopane Inclusive Development Centre as part of their Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Employee Volunteer Programme.

Rekopane, situated in Primrose East, is a non-profit organisation that caters for children with moderate, severe and profound physical and intellectual disabilities.

On the day, over 120 volunteers from CCBSA repainted the boundary walls in bright colours and painted murals, made outdoor benches, repainted cots, repainted the jungle gym and covered the walls in the children’s main bedroom with a mural of famous cartoon characters.

“The paintings have brightened up our centre and I’m certain our children’s faces will light up when they wake up to such a beautiful site every day,” said Snooky Kau, founder of Rekopane.

CCBSA also donated and installed a Jojo tank, as well as a vegetable garden next to the centre to help sustain their vegetable tunnel.

“Our water bill has put a financial strain on the centre.

“However, the donation of the Jojo tank will allow us to settle our water bill and use that money on other supplies,” said Snooky.

Geogett Naidoo, the CSI specialist for CCBSA in Gauteng, said: “We had a lovely day and we will continue to operate and live by contributing to the development of our country.

“We at CCBSA encourage all employees to at least spend one day a year on community leave to participate in the employee volunteer programme.”
