Twenty-five arrested in Katlehong

Katlehong police record 25 arrests from April 20 to 22.

The Katlehong police were hard at work last weekend conducting several operations throughout the area.

During the operations, which included stop-and-searches and roadblocks held between April 20 and 22, officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit and EMPD arrested 25 suspects.

The accused were arrested for a number of different crimes including assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intimidation, shoplifting, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drugs (including dagga and nyaope).

Acting Katlehong SAPS station commander Col Nomthandeki Mthembu commended the officers and thanked them for their hard work.

Mthembu once again encouraged the community to work hand-in-hand with police in the fight against crime.

“A working relationship between the community and police will assist in minimising the level of crime in the area,” said Mthembu.

All arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
