Weather Watch – Severe thunderstorm a possibility for Gauteng

Severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and large hail could be expected this evening says the South African Weather Service.

After a wet couple of the days in Germiston the South African Weather Service has once again warned residents to be on alert as severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are could hit the province in the late afternoon heading into the evening.

The service has predicted that the wet weather will last the rest of the week and into the weekend, with temperatures staying in the mid-20s.

  • Severe Thunderstorms:
Severe thunderstorms with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds and reduced visibility expected in some areas of Gauteng, with special focus on the eastern and northern parts of Tshwane.

Motorists are reminded to take the necessary precautions when travelling in wet weather.

They are encouraged to reduce speed and increase their following distance and headlights should be kept on at all times to increase visibility.

Residents should also ensure that they shelter their pets.
