DJ Vetkuk vs Mahoota to release new album

The legendary Vetkuk and Mahoota will, after five years, finally be releasing their new album, titled Local Everywhere.

The duo, who needs no introduction in the music industry, have worked with local and international artists to bring you their new offering. The double disk album includes South African heavy weights such as Dj Tira, Professor, Nokwazi, Sjava, the award-winning Kwesta, and even South Africa’s modern house queen vocalist Lady Zamar. Some of the international artists featured on the album include Runtown from Nigeria and Afro Warriors from Angola. With 500 songs to choose from, the two admitted it was a bit of a tussle to make sure that the music in their latest album is fresh and relevant.

The two confirmed that there are always challenges when working as a duo and it’s not always the easiest of things to do. “It’s never easy working as duo. Any relationship is never easy if it’s pure and true,” they said.

Talking about the challenges of the industry, Vetkuk touches on the feasibility of social media and how the impact of the internet has made resources accessible, however this does not guarantee the artists’ longevity and relevance.

“Hard work, it’s not only about talent, you need to invest yourself and the time into the whole thing,” said Vetkuk.

Vetkuk vs Mahoota, who are well-known for hits like Putuko and Phul’iqolo, have managed to top the charts with their new singles, Hero ft. Lady Zamar and Dance Floor ft. Professor, DJ Tira, Character & Pex Africah which were released late last year.

If these two singles are anything to go by, Local Everywhere promises to be a banger of an album.
