Men allegedly make off with gas bottle and stove

Two men apprehended by the Primrose police for possession of stolen property.

While on an early morning patrol in Geldenhuys Road in Malvern East, last Friday, officers from the Primrose Police Station noticed two men, aged 22 and 28 respectively, carrying a 9kg gas bottle and a stove.

“As it was 3am in the morning the police were very suspicious.

“When the men saw the police vehicle approaching them they dropped the items and started running,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Officers gave chase and managed to apprehend the men.

“When the suspects were questioned on the origins of the items they confessed that they had stolen them from a nearby house,” said Maome.

The men were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were charged with the possession of stolen property.

They have since appeared in Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where their case was postponed for plea and trial.
