Hijacked vehicle traced to Katlehong

EMPD Public Order Policing Unit members recovered a Mercedes Benz ML Bluetec which was hijacked in mid-January in Vosloorus, last Monday. The vehicle tracking company supplied information to the metro police who were able to trace the vehicle to Katlehong. “Utilising the GPS coordinates, the metro police located the hijacked vehicle parked in a yard in the Credi section of Katlehong,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

Be on the lookout for these vehicles

Primrose residents are urged to be on the lookout for several vehicles allegedly being used in crimes in the area.

Police to take back the streets through Operation Fiela

There was a sea of blue at the Germiston City Sports Club last Friday when over 600 police officers stood on parade during the launch of Operation Fiela. The operation sees officers from all departments of the SAPS and EMPD joining forces to take a stand against crime.

Police warn children to be careful

The Germiston SAPS are warning school children to be alert and aware at all times. “School learners are warned that they are being targeted by robbers, especially in the afternoons when they are walking home from school,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.

Germiston taverns under the EMPD spotlight

The second phase of Operation Fiela which was recently re-launched in Gauteng – the first phase was launched in 2015 – commenced in earnest in Ekurhuleni. The operation sweeps areas and places from which criminals operate, searching for undocumented people and targeting wanted suspects.
