Three dead, five injured in N3 highway collision in Germiston

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident last Sunday.

The N3 highway southbound in Germiston came to a standstill last Sunday after a serious motor vehicle collision near Rand Airport Road.

Netcare 911 paramedics, along with paramedics from various other ambulance services, responded to the scene at about 2.59pm and began treating patients.

“Although it is not clearly understood what happened, reports from the scene allege that two heavy motor vehicles and two light motor vehicles were involved in the collision that left five people injured and three people dead,” said Shawn Herbst, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.

The Netcare 911 Air Ambulance was called to the scene to airlift two patients.

“Local traffic authorities, as well as the SAPS, were on scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the collision,” said Herbst.
