Luso start year with a win

Luso Africa FC teams gave it their all in weekend matches.

Luso Africa’s senior first and second teams kicked off their Top Eight Tournament campaign on the weekend.

The tournament sees the top eight teams from the previous season competing in a series of pre-season friendlies, giving players some much-needed field time before the start of the Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA’s) Super League.

On Saturday the club travelled to Randburg to take on Randburg Football Club.

The first team started the game under pressure from Randburg, but were able to hold off the home team and went into the change rooms at nil-all.

In the second half Luso quickly found their feet and it wasn’t long before Leandro de Abreu opened the scoring, followed closely by Roberto da Silva with the team’s second goal to set up a 2-0 victory.

Luso’s second team was not as lucky, conceding two late goals to lose 2-0 to their Randburg counterparts.

The teams will next face Robertsham Football Club in home matches on Saturday.
