Dlabathi confident in school related partnership

Chief whip of Ekurhuleni Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi is enthusiastic about his partnership with NMSEP.

Amid the release of the 2017 matric results recently, chief whip of council of the City of Ekurhuleni, Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi was confident with the outcome of the partnership formed between his office and Ntsane Mashiloane School Enrichment Programmes (NMESP), which produced just below a 60 per cent bachelor’s pass rate.

The office of the chief whip adopted 90 learners last year across Ekurhuleni, of which 30 were from Tlakula High.

The learners were assisted in maths, accounting and science.

Ninety-seven learners passed their matric at Tlakula High of which 17 obtained university exemptions, 56 diploma passes and 24 higher certificates.

Dlabathi addressed learners during the assembly at Tlakula High on Wednesday.

“Learners must strive to do better in 2018,” said Dlabathi.

He further pleaded with parents to continue supporting their children in the new academic year.

Present at the assembly was the chairperson of the Palesa Ya Sechaba Foundation, Dolly Mokgete, who has committed to working closely with the office of the chief whip, as well as director of Ntsane Mashiloane Enrichment Programmes, Ntsane Mashiloane, who expressed his gratitude for the partnership.

“NMESP is grateful for the opportunity to join forces with the office of the chief whip of Ekurhuleni in order to bring about transformation and development in the education of our township learners,” said Mashiloane.

One of the learners who participated in the programme is Mayoyo Skosana who achieved five distinctions and will be heading to the University of Pretoria to study electrical engineering.

The school’s governing body’s deputy secretary, Felicia Rakgabyane implored parents to take part in the learning and teaching at the school and asked students to respect their educators.

The office of the chief whip will be extending the programme by adopting two more schools in the north and south regions of Ekurhuleni and Gondoana Mathematics will assist in the programme.
