Grade One no longer scary for Laerskool Delville learners

Grade One learners from Laerskool Delville seem to have settled in already.

Learners from Laerskool Delville were all geared up and ready for their first day at school.

During their break time, some had already made new friends and seemed to have settled in very well.

When speaking to Louise van Vuuren, teacher and head of department for the Grade Ones, about her experiences over the years with the first day of school, she said, “In recent years, we’ve seen fewer tears on the faces of most Grade One learners.

“I think this is because most of them come from pre-school, so they are less nervous and more at ease about their first day of big school.”

Van Vuuren, who has been in the department for 29 years, added: “The school is growing annually, and this year with four classes, we have accommodated 39 learners in each class.”
