Hawk Academy learners ready for action

Hawk Academy opens its doors for the new academic year.

Hawk Academy in Primrose was in full swing on Wednesday welcoming old and new learners to the school for the new academic year.

Children were already settled into their classes to start work by 9am.

The school which started in 2016 with only 456 learners, has grown in leaps and bounds since opening and welcomed 146 Grade One learners this year.

“It has been smooth sailing for us as most of our students were registered last year and only needed to be placed into their classes this morning.

“We also noted a huge improvement from last year in the readiness of our learners.

“This is because parents were more prepared and helped to get their children ready for the new year of learning,” said Agnes Mkhonto, the deputy principal.

The generous R20 000 donation of stationery the school received from Dynamic Plastics last year, was also distributed to the learners.

“We split the donation so that every child in every grade will get something,” said Mkhonto.

The school is situated at 12 Main Reef Road and can be contacted on 011 043 9895 or 079 430 8400 or by emailing hawkacademygp@gmail.com.
