Top cops honoured

Officers from across the Ekurhuleni West Cluster were honoured for their achievements at the cluster’s annual Excellence Awards at Carnival City last Friday.

Officers and staff from police stations across the Ekurhuleni West Cluster were dressed to impress at the cluster’s annual Excellence Awards at Carnival City last Friday.

Nominees eagerly waited to hear if their hard work through the year had been enough to clinch top spot in a number of different categories.

The master of ceremonies for the evening, Capt George Raphulu from Germiston Police Station, opened the event with a joke and a word of welcome before handing over to Dennis Roro of the Honeydew Cluster to announce the awards.

Man and Woman of the Year went to Capt André de Jager from Bedfordview Police Station and Sgt Nita Schade from Primrose Police Station respectively, with Sgt Styles Maome from Primrose and Const Queen Sibeko from Germiston being named the first runners-up.

Alberton Police Station took the Station of the Year award, with the Katlehong North and Thokoza stations coming second and third in the category.

Other awards on the night included:

• Detective Group of the Year – Lt-Col Marthinus Pienaar from Thokoza Police Station.

• Crime Intelligence Group of the Year – William Willemse from the Narcotics Team.

• Disabled Employee of the Year – Santy Monareng from Katlehong North Police Station.

• Reservist of the Year – Conrad Kruger from Primrose Police Station.

• Crime Prevention Forum of the Year – the Tokoza CPF, with the Germiston and Brackendowns CPFs also receiving nominations.

• Admin Group of the Year – Capt Mahabe Mashala from Germiston Police Station.

• Vispol Group of the Year – Lt-Col Bernard Nkosi from Germiston Police Station.

• Crime Intelligence Employee of the Year – Hein Bossert.

• Detective Employee of the Year – Det-Const Tebogo Rampai from Thokoza Police Station.

• Vispol Employee of the Year – Const Tlou Selolo from Germiston Police Station.

• Admin Employee of the Year – Rorisang Morotoba.

The event was a great success, with winners and guests enjoying a meal before the festivities came to an end.

All attention now turns to the new year of hard work.
