Print Exclusive: Look after the health of your breasts
Life Roseacres Hospital holds breast cancer awareness workshop.
Community members flocked to Life Roseacres Hospital last Saturday to learn more about breast cancer.
As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month this was the perfect time for people to learn more about the disease, its causes, the risk factors and treatment.
The breast cancer awareness workshop took place at the Coffee on Call coffee shop inside the hospital and saw guests being welcomed to the event by Roseacres nursing manager, Matron Sophie Sibisi.
It was then time for Dr Leiyah Bassa, an oncologist at the hospital, to take to the floor and discuss breast cancer awareness and screening.
She told the assembled audience that in simple terms cancer is the growth of abnormal cells which invade and damage normal tissue.
