Germiston City Cricket Club had a great weekend of action.

It was a clean-sheet weekend for Germiston City Cricket Club’s (GCCC) teams, with the players acquitting themselves well in all league matches.

The weekend campaign started with the Saturday Second League played at home at the Germiston City Sports Club, on Saturday, against Elsburg Eagles.

GCCC won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 214 runs in the allotted 35-overs match.

Jan van Wyk and David Ungerer had a 118-run second-wicket partnership, with van Wyk scoring 78 runs and Ungerer 56 runs.

In the Germiston City Cricket Club’s Sunday Executive League match at home against Vosloorus Cricket Club, on Sunday, Nicholas Tantum batted his way to a century and top-scored for his team.

In the club’s Sunday Executive League match at home, they took on Vosloorus Cricket Club.

The pick of the bowlers were Anthony Steicher (five overs; three wickets for 12 runs), Lowrens Engelbrecht (seven overs; three wickets for 29) and Shain Steicher (six overs; two wickets for 30 runs).

In the fourth match of the weekend, the Sunday President’s League, the club played against Kempton Park Cricket Club.

The GCCC President’s side comprises mostly schoolboys ranging in age from 14 to 17 years old, with two seniors in the team to assist on the day.

This is a GCCC youth development team that the club is extremely proud of.

During the match, 16-year-old Trestin de Lange scored a mammoth 175 runs with a phenomenal display of power hitting, which the opposition had little to no answer for.
