Raptors wrestlers bring home the medals

Wrestlers from the Raptors Wrestling Club, in Primrose, recently competed in the Regional League.

Raptors Wrestling Club, that has been training wrestlers for almost 60 years and is based in Primrose East, recently competed in the Regional League.

During the competition, the club’s wrestlers walked away with several medals.

Some of the club’s results were:

• Dewald De Wet won a gold medal.

• Wiandru van Rooyen placed second and received a silver medal.

• Joubert Deale placed fourth.

• Stephan Stander won a silver medal.

• Dylin Benade came third and received a bronze medal.

• Josh Botha placed fourth in his event.

From this competition, Dewald De Wet, Joubert Deale, Wiandru Van Rooyen, Chris Kruger, Juan Schlebush, Stephan Stander, Dylin Benade and Josh Botha were selected to compete in the South African Championships being held in Turffontein in October.

This small club, situated at the corner of Oak Avenue and Quince Street, prides itself on teaching its students about etiquette, self-control, concentration, hand-eye co-ordination and discipline in a fun and safe environment.
