Woman allegedly raped on her way home

Primrose police arrest man for allegedly raping a woman in the Makause informal settlement.

After visiting a friend in the Makause informal settlement to collect her cellphone, recently, a woman went to a nearby tavern to buy beer.

“While she was in the tavern, the woman was allegedly approached by a 26-year-old man who asked her for some money,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

She claimed she gave him some money and left the tavern.

“On her way home the victim alleged that the same man she had met in the tavern grabbed her and dragged her to a nearby shack where he forced himself on her.

“He then threatened to kill her if she told anyone,” Maome said.

She reported the crime to the Primrose police and officers traced the accused and he was arrested.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
