The Primrose police recently arrested a 22-year-old man on a charge of rape.
The alleged rape took place in December 2016 at the victim’s home in the Marathon informal settlement.
“The victim, her husband and a friend were at home when two men, one with a firearm, entered the shack.
“They ordered them to lie on the ground and searched them for valuables,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The woman attempted to escape and ran outside but was caught by one of the suspects.
“He allegedly ordered her to undress and both men then allegedly raped her,” said Maome.

The woman told police that before heading back inside after the ordeal she heard two gunshots.
“Both the victim’s husband and friend were shot and were taken to hospital for treatment,” Maome said.
After several months of investigation, officers traced and arrested one of the men believed to be involved.
He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
“The search continues for the second suspect,” said Maome.
