The Ekurhuleni West Cluster recently arrested 132 suspects for various offences during a routine joint operation.
The operation saw officers from all the cluster stations, and the EMPD, host several roadblocks throughout the cluster’s policing area.
The accused were charged with different crimes including, assault, malicious damage to property, common robbery, theft, murder, contravening a court order, crimen injuria, possession of suspected stolen property, fraud, trespassing, contempt of court, warrant of arrest, reckless and negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drugs (including, nyaope and dagga).
All the arrested suspects appeared in the Germiston, Vosloorus or Palm Ridge magistrate’s courts where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
The cluster will continue to host similar operations in the area in an attempt to curb crime.
