Four found with stolen vehicle in Katlehong

Four men were recently discovered in possession of an allegedly stolen motor vehicle.

During a routine patrol of Katlehong recently members of the EMPD stopped the driver of a suspicious looking vehicle in Ramokonopi West.

“Officers asked the vehicle’s four occupants, aged between 28 and 37, to get out of the vehicle while they searched it,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, the corporate communications officer for the Katlehong police.

During the search, officers discovered that the vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo, had been reported stolen at the Germiston police station.

“Police also found a 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition in the men’s possession.

The firearm’s serial number had been filed away,” said Ndobe.

The men were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They were taken to the Katlehong police station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
