SPCA receives funds from local cycling club

“We feel that they really did need the support as they service a large area and for all the good they do for their community.”

Germiston Wheelers Cycling Club raised funds in Alberton recently to come to the aid of the Germiston SPCA.

“We read an article in the newspaper that said of a financial crisis at the Germiston SPCA, so we decided to do something about it,” said Xanthe Schwark from the Germiston Wheelers.

“We approached the Alberton SPCA to ask permission for raising funds in Alberton and once received, we got to work and started a raffle to raise funds for them.”

Schwark said they will be paying R19 220 into the Germiston SPCA’s vet’s account to assist with the medical expenses for the animals the SPCA needs to treat.

Simon and Dina Henderson, friends and Alberton business people, who won the R10 000 raffle cash prize have kindly donated their winnings to the Germiston SPCA as well, bringing the total to R29 220.

“We feel that they really did need the support as they serve a large area and for all the good they do for their community.

“We thank all the animal rescue organisations for all the great and very difficult work they do out there.

“They are angels in disguise,” said Schwark.
