Efforts to help save Raquel continue

Community encouraged to support another fund-raising event for Raquel Barnard Stewart (4)’s heart surgery.

Raquel Barnard Stewart’s family and friends continue to make plans to raise funds for the four-year-old’s life-saving heart surgery.

Many people responded to the story of the little girl’s plight – (GCN, June 30, “Little heart needs fixing”) and so another fund-raising event has been organised.

This comes after Brenda Marx, from Circinus Security Services, entered a competition at the Barnyard Theatre at Gold Reef City, recently.

“The good news is that she won and she did it for Raquel,” said Raquel’s grandmother, Sandra Barnard.

Marx won a fund-raising event, Blame it on the Boogie which is a 70s party celebration of disco, funk, rock and soul music, featuring a groovy playlist of music by the Bee Gees, ABBA, The Village People and Earth Wind & Fire to mention a few.

“Please support us at the fund-raising event on August 12. The tickets are already on sale and all the money raised will go towards Raquel’s surgery. Please come join us and help save our little angel’s life,” said Barnard.

She added that they have 75 VIP tickets and that a picnic basket with all kinds of goodies will be given to all those buying VIP tickets. Some 297 ordinary tickets are available and picnic baskets will also be sold at the event.

The event which will be held at the Barnyard Theatre, at Gold Reef City on August 12, will run from 6.30pm.

“Your support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for helping our little angel and my God bless you and your families,” said Barnard.

To buy tickets email Barnard on barsantrade@gmail.com or contact her on 071 885 6134.

Tickets need to be booked by July 27 to ensure Raquel gets the funds.
