Buhle Park man nabbed with house break-in implements

The Elsburg SAPS recently arrested a man after they found various housebreaking implements in his bag.

While patrolling in Nitrogen Street, in Buhle Park, at about 12.30am, recently, the Elsburg SAPS saw a man walking next to the railway line.

When he noticed the police the man dropped a bag and started running.

The police gave chase and apprehended him.

“He told the officers that he was returning home from work in Wadeville,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg police.

“The officers asked him why he had dropped his bag and run away but he failed to answer them.”

The bag was collected and searched.

“Inside police discovered two spanners, a wire cutter and a metal pipe,” said Phooko.

The officers then tested the man’s theory that he was returning from work and took him to the company where he said he was employed.

“When they arrived at the company, the owner said he did not know the suspect and did not identify him as one of his employees,” Phooko said.

The man, aged 43, was arrested and detained at the Elsburg Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

He was charged with the possession of house break-in implements.
