Longest night to be celebrated by annual Winter Solstice Swim in Germiston

Help the NSRI to raise much-needed funds and take a dip on the longest night.

The longest night of the year takes place on Wednesday, June 21 and what better way to celebrate it than with a swim.

The annual NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) Winter Solstice Swim will take place at all NSRI stations countrywide and in Germiston this will be no different.

Station 27, known as the Victoria Lake Station, which services Gauteng, is based at the Victoria Lake Yacht Club, and intrepid swimmers will be taking to the water for a 50m swim at 6pm.

The community is urged to come and support them or take part in the swim themselves.

The project in Germiston is serving as a fund-raising initiative to raise funds to purchase a mobile vehicle to assist NSRI in disaster situations.
