Roger Johnson, Primrose writes: I write with reference to the roll-out this week of the new wheelie bins for domestic refuse in the northern Germiston suburbs and have to ask when the metro is going to make an announcement about this. I became aware of the metro’s migration from the black bags to the wheelie bins when I heard at the end of April that Benoni suburbs were converting with effect from May 1.

5. ALERT: Message stating Germiston SPCA is closing down is a hoax: https://bit.ly/2rp5HLn

A message doing the rounds on social media stating that the Germiston SPCA will be closing down is a hoax. Although the Germiston SPCA is in dire financial straits as per information supplied to the GCN by the SPCA’s manager Burt Coetzee and treasurer Cathy Valente-Parkinson in a recent article, the SPCA will not be shutting its doors in the next few days.
