Awards for VLC paddlers

Two members of the Victoria Lake Canoe Club were recognised for their paddling skills at the Gauteng Canoe Union’s annual award ceremony.

Local paddlers were recognised for their paddling prowess at the Gauteng Canoe Union’s annual award ceremony on May 27.

The event was held at Cradle Moon in Muldersdrift, which provided the perfect setting for it.

Paddlers, both young and old, received awards for their racing achievements during the past year.

Uwe Schmidthaus (left) from the Victoria Lake Canoe Club was named the K1 Sub-Master 2016 Champion at the Gauteng Canoe Union’s annual award ceremony, recently. He was presented his award by Christo Horn (Canoe South Africa deputy president).

They were recognised with trophies, provincial colours, as well as South African colours.

Victoria Lake Canoe Club (VLC) members Uwe Schmidthaus and Colin Ledwaba were recognised for their achievements during the 2016 race season.

Schmidthaus was recognised as the K1 sub-master age category champion, while Ledwaba was named the u-23 champion.

The awards were presented by the Canoe South Africa deputy president Christo Horn.
