Eagles look forward to a positive season

Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club prepares to take on the new Valke League season.

The Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club is ready to take flight into the 2017 season.

The club, who play in the Valke League, are looking for new players.

“We are looking for players aged from six to 18 years to join us,” said club chairman Tyron Smuts.

Practices are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm.

“We encourage parents to ensure their children are dressed warmly for each practice,” Smuts said.

The club plans to continue their efforts to develop the skills of the club’s players and aims to give all players an equal opportunity to play.

“This year, all the Valke region clubs will also participate in three sevens tournaments to widen our rugby dreams and the skills for the juniors,” said Smuts.

The club is also appealing to the community and/or businesses to sponsor the club to help them in their efforts to develop rugby in the community.

“We have a wide range of junior players in our surrounding areas who would love to join but their biggest challenge is transport to practice and games.

“If any company or person would like to sponsor our juniors, please do not hesitate to contact us,” said Smuts.

For more information on the club or to get involved, call Smuts on 062 001 8814 or Doret Smuts, club secretary, on 061 859 1699 or send an email to info@elsburgeagles.co.za.
