When the neighbours of an elderly couple, living in Deutzia Road, Wychwood, became concerned as they hadn’t seen the couple on Thursday (today), they contacted the Primrose SAPS to investigate.
Upon their arrival at the home at about 11am, the police discovered the couple, both in their 70s, tied up inside the house.
“The elderly man was certified dead on the scene and his wife was transported to Union Hospital in a critical condition,” said Capt André de Jager, the communications officer for the Ekurhuleni West cluster.
“It is believed the suspects gained access to the house by forcing open the burglar bars and a window.”
Police are investigating a case of murder.
