Tenant allegedly steals landlord’s vehicle

Two men were nabbed for the alleged theft of a motor vehicle from Cedar Road, in Primrose.

Two men, aged 20 and 30 years old respectively, were recently arrested by the Primrose police after allegedly stealing a motor vehicle.

The crime was reported to the police by the vehicle’s owner who said she had run out of petrol in Cedar Road in Primrose and had to leave her vehicle there, unattended, until she was able to get petrol for it the next day.

“When she returned to where she had left her vehicle she discovered it had been stolen.

“She returned home, where, she told police, she discovered her spare set of car keys was missing,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

Later that day the complainant claims she saw her vehicle being driven by one of her tenants and another man.

“She told police she tried to stop him but he simply drove passed her,” said Maome.

Using a description given by the victim, officers were able to trace the accused and his accomplice and they were arrested.

The pair will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
