Young DJ empowers others

Aspiring DJ shares a few words of wisdom and encouragement.

He’s a master on the decks and ready to take the music world by storm.

Germiston Extension Nine resident Trevor Kgafane (26) is an aspiring disc jockey (DJ) who has the world at his feet.

Kgafane has been working on his craft for years now.

“I fell in love with music when I was very young, and I haven’t looked back since,” said Kgafane.

“My mother was a backing vocalist; one day she took me to the studio and from that day I knew that I wanted to do music.

“I was inspired and loved every minute I spent in that studio.”

Kgafane’s musical journey hasn’t been an easy one, as he had to learn the ropes by himself.

“I started looking for platforms and the right people to connect with in order to pursue my music career,” he said.

“Unfortunately, at that time I couldn’t find people to help me grow musically.

“I finally managed to get a few connections through perseverance.”

The talented youngster decided to turn the struggles he experienced into something good.

He took it upon himself to help other aspiring DJs and artists to enter the music industry.

“I don’t want others to experience the challenges I faced, hence my decision to help and assist where possible,” said Kgafane.

“I am able to empower upcoming artists through my media company High Voltage Pro Media.”

Kgafane, aka (also known as) T Volts, is due to release “Crazy Love”, his single featuring Kondi T.

The plan is to release it later in the year.

This single is Kgafane’s first and he produced it himself; prior to that he was working behind the scenes with other artists such as DJ Cuba, Heavy K, Damreh, DJ X and Cruise Africa.

The talented youngster also told the GCN that live performances are what set him apart from other DJs.

“I find that live performances do it for me; I prefer having instrumentalists performing with me on stage,” said Kgafane.

“I love live elements in songs; even in studio when I record a song it has to have that live feel to it and that is what I feel defines and identifies me as T Volts.

“I like research and my advice to other aspiring artists and youth is to research your career choice and know more about what you want to do.

“Once you know what it is you want to do, then keep pushing and never give up.”
