Police educate children about crime

The Primrose police continue to educate school children in the area through their back-to-school campaign.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station continued their back-to-school campaign with the help of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk.

The team visited Hoërskool Vryburger High School and Laerskool Oosterkruin recently to educate and motivate the learners as they begin the new academic year.

During the visit to Vryburger, Sgt Styles Maome and Capt Herman Lekgabe encouraged the students to follow their dreams and to work hard to achieve their goals.

“Every hero has to start his/her journey from somewhere,” Lekgabe said.

Before the team left the school, learners were entertained by the youth desk members, who performed an interactive play.

They then travelled to Laerskool Oosterkruin where Maome was joined by Capt André de Jager, from the Bedfordview SAPS.

The two shared the responsibility of educating the learners about crimes that affect children and promoted a safe learning environment.

De Jager encouraged the children not to bully one another, “You don’t know how the person you are bullying will react or what they are going through, so respect each other,” he said.

The team will continue their back-to-school campaign with more visits to schools in the area.
